The core of his research and of his teaching cuts across three main themes:

Competing paradigms for analyzing the link between saving, finance, and growth
Modeling the consequences and the sustainability of fiscal policy
Alternative central banks’ operating procedures to deploy monetary policy

He has also published on economic uncertainty, financial instability, and the history of money.

He holds a degree with honors in Political Economy from Luigi Bocconi University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Rutgers University, and he serves on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Economics and Economic Policies and the Journal of Post Keynesian Economics.
